Cooler weather is right around the corner and that means that more than likely we’ll be dealing with our fair share of colds, runny noses and coughs. The good news is that you can create your own fire cider that not only boost your immune system but helps stimulate digestion to keep your gut happy & healthy. Grab a mason jar and follow along for my go-to fire cider recipe!
Ingredients For Fire Cider:
- 1 medium sized thumb of ginger
- 1 small white onion chopped
- 5-6 crushed cloves of garlic
- 4-5 pieces of clove
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 small thumb of turmeric
- 3 sprigs of fresh rosemary
- Raw apple cider vinegar to cover
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 stick of cinnamon
Preparing Your Tonic:
- First, grab a mason jar. You’ll want one that’s big enough for all of your ingredients plus your liquid from the ACV.
- Next, combine all your dry ingredients in a jar of your choosing as long as there is plenty of room for all the ingredients to be saturated. Make sure to leave about half an inch of room since you will be shaking your fire cider.
- Pour your apple cider vinegar into your mason jar, making sure to cover all of the dry ingredients.
- Seal your jar shut. Please note, if you’re using a metal lid, cut a piece of wax paper or cheese cloth over the mouth of the jar before placing the lid.
- Give your fire cider a good shake and place it in a cool, dark space for 2-3 weeks, shaking it at least once a week.
- Straining is optional. Personally, I leave all the ingredients in the jar and just pour out a little at a time!
Once your fire cider is ready to use, you’ll just enjoy 1-2 tablespoons daily or whenever you feel a little under the weather. Now, you can store your tonic in the refrigerator or cabinet for up to 1 year! Save this fire cider recipe & make it your own!
